FIELD: measuring equipment.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a measurement technique, namely, a method of route search and determining place of optical cable fault. Using a phase-sensitive pulsed optical reflectometer, the backscattering characteristic of the same fiber is measured under vibration action and jointly process the backscatter characteristics measured by pulsed optical reflectometers before and during vibration exposure. Determine the route of cable laying at the location of the source of directional vibration, in which the difference between the characteristics of backscattering at the place of vibration is maximized.
