FIELD: technological processes.;SUBSTANCE: selective catalytic reduction (SCR) method comprises selectively reducing a gaseous mixture comprising nitrogen oxides in the presence of a reducing agent and a catalyst, which contains at least 80 % by weight of cerium (IV) oxide and from 0.1 to 20 % by weight of tantalum (V) oxide, doped with cerium (IV) oxide, wherein the catalyst is calcined at a temperature within the range of 600 °C to 1,000°C. Crystal lattice parameter of the catalyst is at least 0.02 % less than that of plain ceria (IV) oxide.;EFFECT: method makes it possible to reduce the concentration of nitrogen oxides in the emissions.;14 cl, 14 dwg
