A process for the functional representation of an arteriovenous malformation with the aid of an x-ray tomographic examination with a rotatable imaging system (1) for the production of tomography images, comprising the following process steps:1.1. Scanning of a patient (7) with at least in an examination region of an arteriovenous malformation and generating a plurality of projections under different angles of projection via a given projection angle range during the duration of a surge of contrast agent,1.2. Use of the projections by division of the plurality of the projections over the predetermined projection angle range, in at least three part projection data sets of coherent part - projection angle regions, wherein the projections of each portion of projection data set in each case different successive time windows belong to the entire duration of the scanning, and calculating a time series of tomosynthesis - image data sets with the aid of a digital tomography synthesis process, and1.3. Determination of the of contrast agent by flood differential vessels (g) in each of the time window of the tomosynthesis - image data sets, wherein first flooded vessels (g) arterial and last flooded vessels (g) are assigned to venous vessels.
