Device for locating a flight recorder of a damaged aircraft and the aircraft itself, wherein a floatable body (1), which is guided in the aircraft and ejected in case of emergency from the aircraft, is used and which has signal means for position display, wherein the floatable body (1) remains connected by a developable cable (3) with the damaged aircraft, wherein the cable (3) is arranged either in the aircraft or in the floatable body (1) and the black box (9) in the inflatable body (1) are arranged and the inflatable body (1) has a balloon (5) which can be ejected from the latter and is inflated by a gas more easily than air, as signaling means which is connected to the floatable body (1) via a further cable (4).
