A crescent-type internal gear pump includes a front cover, an end cover, a ring gear, and a pinion gear disposed in a gear housing in an eccentric interlocking relationship. The housing is disposed between the front cover and the end cover. A crescent is disposed radially between the ring gear and the pinion gear. The crescent partially extends into a correspondingly shaped recess in the end cap. The gear housing, the ring gear and the pinion gear may have substantially the same thicknesses. A washer may be disposed between the end cover and the transmission housing for establishing a desired distance therebetween.
