A foam extrusion die (SD) with a feed section (ZA) is described. This ends with a nozzle slot (DS) ends. The foam extrusion die (SD) further comprises a guide portion (FA) adjoining the die slot (DS). The guide portion (FA) has guide surfaces (F1, F2) adjoining the nozzle slot (DS) and extending away from the nozzle slot (DS). At least one of the guide surfaces (F1, F2) is movable. The guide surfaces (F1, F2) have ends (E1, E2) which have a distance (D) from each other which can be varied by a factor of at least 5.
