Control of licensable features of software using an access token

Disclosed are systems and methods for activating features of software products on a client device using a feature set ID included in an access token. In particular, in one or more embodiments, the disclosed systems and methods provide a core feature directory for a client device in connection with downloading a software product. In addition, upon authenticating a user of the client device, the disclosed systems and methods generate a feature set ID indicating the software products for which the user is granted access. The disclosed systems and methods include the generated feature set ID in an access token and send the access token to the client device. The client device may use the included feature set ID in conjunction with the main feature dictionary to identify authorized features. In addition, the client device may activate the authorized features with respect to the software product.
