The present invention relates to a muscle power assisted vehicle having a distance adaptive cruise control for longitudinal guidance of the vehicle. The muscle-assisted vehicle first comprises a pedal crank generator and at least one drive motor and a drive train which connects these two. Furthermore, the vehicle comprises a plurality of sensors for measuring and generating a plurality of sensor signals. The sensors at least are: a sensor for measuring the distance with respect to another vehicle ahead as well as for the speed estimation of the other vehicle, a first speed sensor for detecting a rotational speed of the pedal crank generator; a second speed sensor for detecting a rotational speed of the drive motor; a first torque sensor for detecting the torque of the pedal crank generator; a second torque sensor for detecting the torque of the drive motor; a speed sensor for detecting a speed signal of the vehicle; and a brake signal sensor for detecting a brake signal. Furthermore, the vehicle comprises a control unit for processing the detected sensor signals and for controlling the distance-adaptive speed controller, wherein a controlled by the control unit decoupling of the drive train between the pedal crank and the drive motor is realized, and wherein the control is carried out in dependence on the preceding other vehicle.
