A method and apparatus for vehicle mobile use monitoring with a mobile telephone use sensor are disclosed. An exemplary disclosed vehicle includes a mobile phone use sensor and a communication interrupter. The exemplary mobile phone use sensor monitors a detection area around a driver's seat. The example communication interworkor alters operation of the vehicle when the mobile phone user sensor detects use of a mobile device within the coverage area, a communication management feature is enabled, and the mobile device is not communicatively coupled to a wireless module of the vehicle.
