The invention relates to a method for generating dynamic information about a change of a route guidance. Original navigation directions along an original route between an origin and a destination are generated. Due to changes in traffic conditions, an alternative route may be preferable. There is thus a deviation from the original route and alternative route. According to the method, when a vehicle is at a current location on the original route, an alternative route to the destination is determined, including the location of the departure between the original route and the alternative route. The method then includes generating an acoustic indication of a change in the route guidance as a function of the zoom level of a map section displayed on a display with respect to the location of the deviation.
