The present invention relates to a ballistic projectile comprising at least one projectile body having an axis (1), a first wing (a1) and a second flange (a2) able to be at least in a position folded or unfolded position, the passage from one position to another being caused by an opening mechanism, a support (5) of the mechanism on which is fixed a common axis (4) and which can be fixed to the body of the projectile, a pinion fixed to the support (5) of the mechanism and capable of causing the wings (a1, a2) of the folded position to the unfolded position of an irreversible manner, a drive means (6) adapted to implement the gearing, a means (7) for blocking the gearing unlockable at a given instant on the trajectory by a control means of the mechanism and reblocable once the wings (a1, a2) in the unfolded position. The present invention also relates to a process for the use of such a projectile.
