The engine (1) further comprises a valve device (19) configured to alternately increase and reduce the flow of air entering the combustion chambers (3) of the engine, and configured to interrupt the air intake at times in the combustion chambers (3). The engine (1) comprises, at the inlet of the air distributor (5), an air cooler (16). The air flow valve (19) is located between the cooler (16) and the combustion chambers (3) of the engine.
