The present invention relates to an oil-in-water emulsion consisting of water and an oily phase consisting of lidocaine, a first fatty acid, a second fatty acid, the first fatty acid being lauric acid and or tridecanoic acid, the second fatty acid being selected from mystiric acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid and oleic acid, and mixtures thereof. These emulsions are useful as a medicament, especially as an analgesic, antalgic in humans or animals, or sexual retardant. They may be incorporated in a pharmaceutical or veterinary composition, or in a medical device.
