A hand barrow for carrying patients comprising a pedestal 1, two support rods 2 disposed at one end of the pedestal which can spread towards or away from each other, a main rod 3 extending from the pedestal 1, a retractable suspension arm 4 pivotally attached to an end of the main rod 3 and means to lift the arm 5 wherein a button 421 is provided to control extension of the arm at an outer lateral end of the arm 4 and the button 421 includes a mechanical linkage to interact with the power source controlling the arm 4. The button 421 employs a return spring, a control valve, linking bodies and a control cord. The device may also employ a standing plate 6 which is pivotally connected to a height adjustable cushion pad 7. The pad may also have a retaining belt 71.
