A hand held sign apparatus for road crossing, such as a lollipop sign used by school crossing patrols. The sign has a plurality of flashing LED lights and a camera for recording vehicle movements whilst the sign is being used. Preferably the LED lights are positioned around the outer circle of a lollipop sign and are positioned on either side of the sign. The LED lights are 1 watt LEDs and both the LED lights and the camera are powered by a rechargeable battery. Preferably the sign has a camera embedded into both sides of the sign. In use the LED lights and camera are operated by a switch. The recordings from the camera may be downloaded via a USB connector on the handle of the sign.
