The electrical device has clocked power supply unit (21) comprising power stack (23) with power semiconductor switch (25,26) to generate electric supply voltage or electric current for electrical load (29) from electric voltage. A pulse transformer (41-44) is configured to generate signal assigned to change in charge and/or direction of electric current (i1) flowing through current path (51-54) exhibited by power stack. An evaluation device is configured to evaluate signal coming from pulse transformer, and to draw conclusion regarding operational reliability of semiconductor switch.
