The invention relates to a method for simulating temperature distributions within pans (1, ..., n) of a metallurgical plant and within the pans contained in the molten metal. To provide a novel simulation of temperature distribution within pans a metallurgical plant and within contained in the pans molten metal, allows that accurate predictions of these temperature distributions, is proposed with the invention that for each pan and the molten metal contained therein, a temperature distribution using a Finite -volume method and predetermined boundary conditions is simulated numerically, for which the respective ladle, the molten metal contained therein and the pan surrounding environment predetermined size are at least partially decomposed into a finite number of grid cells.
