The invention relates to a method for monitoring a triggering device (AE) of a fire extinguishing system, wherein the trigger means is connected via a feed line to an erase control unit (EST). The trigger means is activated when a received fire alarm (AL) by the erase control unit by means of an electromechanical relay (R). It is connected in series to the relay, a semiconductor switching element (FET), in order to avoid false triggering of the triggering device as a result of mechanical action on the electromechanical relay. There is the release only when both switching elements (R, FET) are triggered to close. According to the invention, the semiconductor switching element in the event that no fire alert is received, repeatedly, especially cyclically, controlled by the erase control unit for impressing a test current (IP) for monitoring the connected tripping device via the feed line.
