The method comprising: storing container parameters (384) of a container (24) to store perishable goods, TRU parameters (385) of the TRU (26) to control environment conditions within container (24), and perishable good requirements (388) for transporting the perishable goods within the container (24); receiving route parameters (381), weather parameters (386), and perishable good parameters (389); determining one or more potential routes (462) in response to the route parameters (381); determining a TRU predicted operation (404) along each of the one or more potential routes (402) in response to at least one of the route parameters (381), container parameters (384), TRU parameters (385), weather parameters (386), perishable good parameters (389), and perishable good requirements (388); and determining a predicted energy consumption (406) from the energy storage device (62) by the TRU (26) along each of the one or more potential routes (402) in response to the TRU predicted operation (404) and energy storage device parameters (382).
