The present invention relates to a system for lighting a device, in particular a decorative element, a façade of a building or a street furniture item by bioluminescence, including a bioreactor (1) provided with an intake for a culture medium and at least one means for collecting a portion of the biomass, as well as tappings for connecting a circuit (5) for circulating a culture medium which carries bioluminescent microorganisms, said circulation circuit (5) comprising a set of at least partially transparent ducts and at least one circulation pump (6) and one air pump (13), said system including a circuit (11) for controlling the supply of culture medium, the addition of biomass and the removal of biomass, and at least one sensor of the biological status of the circulating microorganisms.
