The controller (150) is configured to process the sensor signals and to calculate, based on a time interval between the sensor signals of the first and second sensors, a target time at which the front end (E) of the element reaches a target position (ZP) corresponds to a predetermined length of the element and the cutting device (130) to control so that at the target time or near time at the target time, a cut is performed, with which a portion of predetermined length (L) is separated from the directional material.
