The present invention relates to crystalline Zr-, Hf-, Ln-based MOFs having aliphatic or heteroaliphatic, preferably aliphatic, linkers; a process of preparing same and uses thereof, particularly as separation/purification material, or as proton conductive material (fuel cells), or as water sorption material, or as catalyst; for example for gas separation, small molecule separation, for CO2/N2 separation, separation of chiral molecules, size/shape-based molecule separation, or separation/extraction of metallic ions, as water sorption material, in adsorption-type cooling/heating systems, as catalyst, in biomass conversion systems/reactions.
