The method comprising:- obtaining a digital assembly comprising a first digital 3D model and a second digital 3D model arranged according to a first relative arrangement;- determining if the first and second digital 3D models are in direct contact in the first relative arrangement; and- in accordance with a determination that the first and second digital 3D models are in direct contact, storing information in a data storage where the stored information is expressing that the first and second digital 3D models are in direct contact in the obtained digital assembly.;Such a data storage can be used when designing a other assemblies by using the information in the data storage to identify the most likely candidates for the next component in the design process.
