The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus for establishing an inter-layer link binding relationship, and relates to the field of communications technologies, to resolve a prior-art problem that line fault alarm efficiency is relatively low. The method includes: receiving, by a first node, a first label switched path LSP path establishment request message, where the first LSP path establishment request message carries first link information, and the first link information includes a link identifier of a single-wavelength link included in a first LSP and a link identifier of a multiplexing link included in the first LSP; and establishing, by the first node, an inter-layer link binding relationship of the first LSP, where the inter-layer link binding relationship of the first LSP is a correspondence between the link identifier of the multiplexing link in the first LSP and the link identifier of the single-wavelength link in the first LSP. Therefore, when a multiplexing line is faulty, an alarm for the faulty line is generated in a timely manner based on the inter-layer link binding relationship, so that fault alarm efficiency is improved.
