The present invention is directed to a cleaning composition comprising one or more chaplin proteins comprising a DUF320 domain consensus sequence (SEQ ID NO: 1) and have a sequence of less than 350 amino acids and a surfactant system comprising one or more anionic surfactants and one or more co-surfactants selected from the group consisting of amphoteric surfactant, zwitterionic surfactant, and mixtures thereof. Methods of making and using such compositions are also provided.
