The invention relates to a method for producing a closure element (6) for closing a container opening, said closure element having at least one thin location (61) of a predefined minimum wall thickness, in which method a specifiable amount of a plasticized plastic material (P) is introduced into a mold cavity (5) of an injection-molding tool (10) of an injection-molding device, the plastic material (P) is brought to solidification by cooling or a cross-linking reaction and, after the injection-molding tool (10) is opened, the closure element (6) is formed. The plasticized plastic material (P) is introduced into the mold cavity (5) of the injection-molding tool (10) while the injection-molding tool is not yet fully closed. The mold cavity (5) is only partly filled with the plastic material (P). The injection-molding tool (10) is closed during or after the injection operation. By means of the closing of the injection-molding tool (10), the plastic material (P) is distributed over the entire mold cavity (5) and completely fills the entire mold cavity. The closure element is formed with the at least one thin location (61) in the specified minimum wall thickness.
