This method of monitoring an avionics software application (14) capable of being executed on a platform (16) hosting an operating system (20) is implemented by an electronic monitoring device (24). The avionics software application (14) comprises one or more software processes to be executed, and the platform (16) is intended to be embarked on board an aircraft. The method comprises the following steps:the monitoring of the execution time of the avionic software application (14), by checking, at the end of at least one predefined execution time, of the completion of the execution of at least software processing of the avionics software application (14); and- Updating a status of the avionics software application (14) according to the monitoring of the execution time of the avionics software application (14).
