The semi-finished lens (22) comprises a blank (23) formed in a first material having a first hardness, the blank (23) having an outline (33), a first face and a second face configured to be surfaced so as to constitute a first optical face of the ophthalmic lens, and a top layer (24) formed in a second material having a second hardness greater than the first hardness, the top layer (24) having an outline (34), a first face (29) and a second face (30), the second face of the top layer (24) being arranged on the first face of the blank. The outline (34) of the top layer (24) is equal to or included in the outline (33) of the blank (23), and satisfies to a predetermined dimensional selection criterion involving the final outline (32) of the ophthalmic lens.
