Computer system (100), computer-implemented method and computer program product are provided for analyzing the technical state of an industrial system (200). The computer system has an interface module (110) configured to: access a plurality of signals (SS1 to SSm) describing the technical state of the industrial system (200) at respective time points wherein the signals correspond to or are derived from raw sensor data generated by sensors (S1 to Sn) of the industrial system (200); receive an indicator (I1) for a signal of interest (Sol) to be used for diagnosis of the current technical state; and provide one or more associated signals (AS) to a diagnostic system analysis user (10) as a recommendation (R1) for diagnostic parameters. A data analyzer module (120) can retrieve the associated signals (AS) by using one or more of the following criteria: use of the associated signals (AS) in combination with the signal of interest (Sol) in diagnostic activities regarding an abnormal technical state in the past; existence of technical dependencies between the signal of interest (Sol) and the associated signals (AS); and result of a problem resolution activity in the past as a result of diagnostic activities based on the associated signals (AS) in combination with the signal of interest (Sol) regarding an abnormal technical state in the past.
