PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sort and recover a valuable substance from a waste material containing a used refractory material with high yield.;SOLUTION: When sorting and recovering a valuable substance from a waste material containing a used refractory material, the waste material is classified by a sieve (1a) of a sieve opening D1, the waste material which becomes oversized is crushed by a crusher (2) into a particle diameter which passes the sieve of the sieve opening D1, the crushed waste material is classified by a sieve (1b) of a sieve opening D2 smaller than the sieve opening D1 together with the waste material which becomes undersized by classification of the sieve (1a), and fine powders which become undersized are removed. Impurities are removed from the waste material, which becomes oversized by classification of the sieve (1b), by physical sorting, and the waste material in which the impurities are removed is recovered as a valuable substance. When performing size control as a preliminary treatment for physically sorting and recovering the valuable substance, classification by a sieve is firstly performed and only the oversized waste material is crushed, and therefore, the waste material, which has a particle diameter suitable for physical sorting from the beginning, is not crushed, and thus, increase of fine powders, which are not suitable for physical sorting, can be suppressed.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1;COPYRIGHT: (C)2019,JPO&INPIT
