To provide a preferable surface property of an ingot with less cost than for hot top casting method.SOLUTION: A timbering device includes: a casting mold 10; a drag 20; a header cap 30 having a cylindrical part 31 arranged with a predetermined interval from the casting face of an inner face of the casting mold 10; a float 40; and a gas pressurizing device 50 for blowing gas toward a space S between the casting face and the cylindrical part 31. The header cap 30 is constituted of a heat insulation member. The gas pressurizing device 50 comprises a ring-like gas pressurizing plate 51 arranged between the casting mold 10 and the header cap 30. The gas pressurizing plate 51 has a supply passage 56 for supplying gas A into the space S. A lower end of the cylindrical part 31 is positioned above the lower end of the casting mold 10, and the space S is opened downward demarcated by the casting mold 10, the gas pressurizing plate 51 and the cylindrical part 31.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
