PREDICTION MODEL FOR SELECTION OF PRINTING NOZZLE IN INK JET PRINTING

To provide a method for detecting and compensating a printing nozzle, which has a defect in an ink jet printer, by a calculator.SOLUTION: This method includes: a step at which a printing nozzle test pattern is printed adjacent to a primary part in book printing; a step at which the printed printing nozzle test pattern is detected and digitized by at least one image sensor; a step at which the detected test pattern is evaluated; a step at which a characteristic value for all printing nozzles, which are concerned with printing of the printing nozzle test pattern, is determined on the basis of the evaluation; a step at which a failure probability for each concerned printing nozzle is calculated from the determined characteristic value by using a statistical prediction model; a step at which all printing nozzles, which exceed over a first set threshold, are turned off and are compensated for the calculated failure probability; and a step at which printing process is executed on an ink jet printer by the compensated printing nozzle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
