PURPOSE: To provide a dry contact mechanical seal which exerts a favorable mechanical seal function by properly maintaining contact states of sealing end faces.CONSTITUTION: In a dry contact mechanical seal which is constituted so as to exert a seal function by the relative rotation of sealing end faces 3a, 5a being opposing end faces of a rotating sealing ring 5 which is held to a rotating shaft 4 so as to be movable to an axial line direction, and a stationary sealing ring 3 fixed to a seal case 2 in a non-lubrication contact state, the stationary sealing ring 3 is formed of an annular complex composed of a sealing ring main body 31 having a sealing end face 3a, and a metal-made holding ring 32 fit to an external peripheral part of the sealing ring main body in a state of tightly adhering thereto. A plurality of purge fluid injection passages 14 for injecting purge fluids F supplied from supply passages 13 which are formed at the seal case 2 toward the rotating sealing ring 5 from injection ports 14a which are opened at a tip face of the holding ring 32 are formed at the holding ring 32.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
