To provide an evaluation method that improves the degradation activity in the evaluation of the degradability of a chemical substance, and decreases the variation of the result, and to provide a test container and oxygen consumption amount measurement device used for this method.SOLUTION: A method of evaluating the degradability of a chemical substance includes (1) a process of cultivating, at a temperature of 20-24°C, a test solution of an amount exceeding 1000 mL that contains a test material and an active sludge of 25-35 mg/L. A test container of an amount exceeding 1000 mL that contains the chemical substance and the active sludge of 25-35 mg/L is provided.
