To provide methods for determining cells suitable for culture and infection estimation of erythrocyte-mediated infectious microorganisms such as malaria parasites.SOLUTION: Disclosed herein is a method for determining a cell suited for infection, culture and/or estimation of an erythrocyte-mediated infectious microorganism of interest, comprising the steps of: inducing differentiation of erythrocyte progenitor cells into erythrocytes to prepare a mixture of cells of at least two different differentiation stages from erythrocyte progenitor cells to enucleated erythrocytes; infecting the cells with the microorganism to select infected cells.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
