To provide a device for estimating the degree of fatigue of power transmitting components and a method for estimating the degree of fatigue of power transmitting components that are capable of estimating the degree of fatigue of each component in a power transmission system.SOLUTION: Provided is a device 20 for estimating the degree of fatigue of power transmitting components in a power transmitting system 2 from a motor/generator 3 (drive source) to driving wheels 9 (wheels), including: an estimating unit 22 which estimates the degree of fatigue of a power transmitting component on the basis of the magnitude and direction of torque acting on the power transmitting component; and an output unit 23 which outputs a signal indicating that the degree of fatigue has exceeded a threshold if the degree of fatigue exceeds a prescribed threshold that is set in advance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
