To improve mechanical simplicity and accuracy and stability of cut length of weft end through a weft operation device in a standby mode without change in length of weft route in a standby mode when a fastening gripper changes a position.SOLUTION: In a weft operation device, a gripper P corresponding to a standby weft is fitted on a support S disposed at edge part of a cloth. The weft operation device comprises: the gripper; a first motor means Ms, which moves the support in order to insert the gripper of weft into a shed; a second motor means Mp, which opens the gripper, contrary to a holding means to maintain the gripper at a closed position; and a weft guide means, which transports the weft into the opened gripper during a beating step. The support rotates around a rotation axis. The gripper is fitted along arc centered at the rotation axis on the support. A thread guide means is integrated with the support in order to make all weft tightened by the gripper pass through a convergence area disposed in proximity to the rotation axis of the support.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
