To easily provide a composition which is dissolvable into water, and contains polyphosphoric acid having an average chain length of 700 or more when dissolved into water or salt thereof, in which reduction of molecular weight (average chain length) when stored as aqueous solution is suppressed.SOLUTION: A polyphosphate-containing composition that is a composition for preparing polyphosphate-containing aqueous solution contains any one of (1) and (2) to (4) below: (1) potassium metaphosphate, (2) sodium phosphates, (3) lithium salt, (4) sodium phosphates and lithium salt, in which total atomic ratio of sodium atomic ratio, lithium atomic ratio or sodium and lithium with respect to the number of potassium atom are severally 2 or more.
