To provide: a blue light-emitting material having excellent light emitting efficiency for an organic electroluminescent device; and an organic electroluminescent device.SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent device comprises a cathode 7, an anode 2, and an organic layer arranged between the cathode and the anode, where the organic layer includes a compound represented by the general formula (1) in the figure. In the formula, X is a carbon atom or nitrogen atom; A1 is an aryl ring with 6 ring-forming atoms, or a heteroaryl ring with 5 or 6 ring-forming atoms; A2 is a heteroaryl ring with 5 or 6 ring-forming atoms; and RA1 and RA2 are optional substituents that may be present on the rings A1 and A2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
