To provide a method for manufacturing a carboxylate/carbonate complex of a periodic table Group II element by suppressing production of a precipitate of carbonate, and the carboxylate/carbonate complex of periodic table Group II element less in content of the precipitate of carbonate and having high quality.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing a liquid perbasic metal complex having a carboxylate/carbonate complex structure and/or a phenate/carbonate complex structure of a periodic table Group II metal atom, including a first process for mixing hydroxide of the periodic table Group II metal atom, a hydrocarbon-based solvent having boiling point of 150°C or more, monovalent alcohol having 8 to 20 carbon atoms, a carboxyl group-containing compound and/or a phenolic compound, and a surfactant having HLB of 10 or more to produce carboxylate ad/or phenate of the metal atom, and a second process for adding carbon dioxide to the carboxylate ad/or phenate of the periodic table Group II metal atom obtained in the first process to produce the carboxylate/carbonate complex structure and/or the phenate/carbonate complex structure.SELECTED DRAWING: None
