To provide an in-wheel motor drive device in which vibration caused by deformation of a stator is hardly transmitted to a vehicle body, and a rotary motor used for the same.SOLUTION: An in-wheel motor drive device IWM comprises a rotary motor 1, a wheel bearing 5, and a speed reducer 2. The rotary motor 1 has an annular stator 9, a housing 8 in which the stator 9 is fitted and fixed therein, a rotary shaft 6 that is rotatably supported on the housing 8 through bearings 11,12 coaxially with the stator 9, and a rotor 10 rotating integrally with the rotary shaft 6. A non-contact section A is provided between an outer peripheral surface of the stator 9 and an inner peripheral surface of the housing 8. A vehicle body mounting piece 51 protrudes from an outer peripheral surface of the housing 8. A part or all of a base end of the vehicle body mounting piece 51 overlaps with a radial projection area of the non-contact section A.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
