To decrease the weight of a shield and reduce the weight of a vessel by suppressing an excessive increase in thickness and density of the shield.SOLUTION: An inspection method for a vessel having a shield for shielding a radiation ray by radioactive waste loaded in a hold includes: a radiation source dose detection step S1 for arranging a radiation source and a detector in a predetermined positional relation and detecting a dose with the detector; a passing dose detection step S3 for arranging the radiation source on a first side of the shield, arranging the detector in a positional relation corresponding to a relative positional relation between the radiation source and the detector in the radiation source dose detection step S1, on a second side of the shield, and detecting a dose; an attenuation factor acquisition step S4 for acquiring a value of a detection value in the passing dose detection step S3 to a detection value in the radiation source dose detection step S1 as an attenuation factor of a radiation ray by the shield; and a determination step S5 for determining whether or not the attenuation factor is equal to or lower than a predetermined threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
