To provide a charging roller bearing retention mechanism that can separate a charging roller from a charging member with a simple structure, and can easily bring the charging roller into contact with an image carrier.SOLUTION: A charging roller bearing retention mechanism includes: a charged member rotatably supported by a body; a charging roller for applying a charging potential to the charged member; a bearing member for retaining the rotation shaft of the charging roller; a support unit for supporting the bearing member so that the position of the rotation shaft is changeable with respect to the body; a separation member for fixing the bearing member to the position at which the charging roller is separate from the charged member; and a separation release member that releases the fixation of the bearing member by the separation member and brings the charging roller into contact with the charged member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
