To provide: a sheet detection mechanism by which it is possible to detect, with a simple structure, whether a sheet is mounted on a tray or not; a processing apparatus including the sheet detection mechanism; an expansion device including the sheet detection mechanism; and a molding system.SOLUTION: A sheet detection mechanism 2 includes: a tray including a mount part and a movable member 140 disposed on a mount frame part 114 and brought into contact with a mounted sheet; a sensor 200 to detect a predetermined arrangement of the movable member 140; and a control part to control the sensor. Dimensions of an outer shape of a plane view of the mount frame part 114 is not less than dimensions of an outer shape of the sheet. The mount frame part 114 has a predetermined width in a plane view. The mount frame part 114 includes an opening part therein. The movable member 140 becomes a predetermined arrangement under the condition that the sheet is mounted on the mount frame part 114 and the sheet is contacted with an inner edge of the mount frame part 114. The control part determines whether the sheet is mounted or not on the mount frame part 114 by causing the sensor 200 to detect the predetermined arrangement.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
