To provide a rotary air preheater which can efficiently prevent a block caused by an acid ammonium sulfate while saving energy, and a block prevention method of the rotary air preheater.SOLUTION: A rotary air preheater 4 comprises: a rotary heat exchanger 41 for heat-accumulating a part of a calorie of a combustion exhaust gas discharged from a boiler, preheating air by radiating heat into air which is sent from the outside, and supplying the air to the boiler; and a nozzle 10 for blowing high-temperature gases which are not lower than 300°C in a position behind an intermediate position in a peripheral direction of an air-side region 43 of the rotary heat exchanger 41 in a rotation direction out of the air-side region 43 in which the air of the rotary heat exchanger 41 circulates. The nozzle 10 comprises a tip part 10a in which a plurality of injection holes 12 for injecting the high-temperature gases are arranged while extending to a prescribed range in the peripheral direction of the rotary heat exchanger 41.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
