To provide a document file selection assisting system and a document file selection assisting program capable of assisting a selection of a document file that contains a description for the meaning of a specific term among a plurality of document files.SOLUTION: A document file selection assisting system that assists a selection of a document file that contains a description for the meaning of an object term among a plurality of document files selects the document file that contains the object term among the plurality of document files (S43), selects the document file that contains the object term in a specific state among the document files selected in S43 (S44 or S45), creates, as a list of the document files that possibly contain the description for the meaning of the object term, a list of term description possibility files which has the selected document file in S44 or S45 disposed at the upper hierarchy above the selected document file in S43 (S48), and outputs this list (S49).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
