To provide a method for maintaining tunable acoustic gradient index of refraction (TAG) lens in a desired operation state by operating an imaging system.SOLUTION: In a first step, a TAG lens operates by using a standard imaging drive control setting (for example, a standard drive voltage and duration) during a plurality of imaging drive mode periods to establish a standard imaging state of the TAG lens. In a second step, the TAG lens operates by using an adjustment adaptive drive control setting during a plurality of adjustment adaptive drive mode periods. In the adjustment adaptive drive mode period, based on a monitoring signal for indicating a difference between the standard imaging state of the TAG lens and a current operation state of the TAG lens, at least one of mutually different TAG lens drive voltages and mutually different TAG lens drive durations is used for mutually different adjustment adaptive drive mode periods.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
