The present application discloses methods, compositions and formulations for treating or preventing hypercalciuria, thereby reducing the risk of nephrolithiasis and normalizing the chemistry and composition in urine. The method of the present invention comprises the administration of a pharmaceutical or nutritional composition containing vitamin K2, preferably without calcium, optionally from the group consisting of citrate, magnesium oxide, bicarbonate and vitamin B6.
