To provide a method for recombinant production of steviol glycoside, and a composition containing steviol glycosides.SOLUTION: The composition comprises about 1% to about 99% w/w of Rebaudioside M, wherein the composition has a reduced level of Stevia-derived contaminants relative to a stevia extract. More specifically, Rebaudioside D, Rebaudioside M, Rebaudioside Q, and/or Rebaudioside I are produced using a recombinant host cell such as a yeast cell, a mammalian cell, an insect cell, a fungal cell and a bacterial cell.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
