PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the amount of unevenness on a rope surface irrespective of the number of strands and twist pitch cycle of a rope.;SOLUTION: A method for detecting the surface unevenness of a rope includes: acquiring three-dimensional shape data on the rope by an optical cutting method using a linear light projection device and an imaging device (Step S1); extracting the value of a proximity point closest to the linear light projection device and the imaging device from the three-dimensional shape data (Step S2); extracting the coordinates of a crown part of the rope from the proximity point data (Step S3); calculating a circumscribing line that is in contact with the coordinates of the crown part in a preset range (Step S4); calculating the distance between the circumscribing line and the crown part as the amount of unevenness (Step S5); selecting the smallest amount of unevenness in the same crown part as an optimum amount of unevenness (Step S6); and determining whether the rope is good or not based on the optimum amount of unevenness (Step S7).;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5;COPYRIGHT: (C)2019,JPO&INPIT
